December 28th, 2011 - Samuel meet Jimi, Jimi meet Samuel...

Tonight's pairing finds me enjoying a rich, "chocolatey" Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout with the smooth, rich sounds of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Soup." M-m-m-m!  This has been one of my better pairings as of late.  Much like Jimi's beautiful power and groove, Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout has a richness and punch that cannot be ignored!  I found that it was necessary to sit down for both the beer and the music... they both demanded attention!  Both songs "Angel" and "Drifting" really accentuated the roasted barley nose and opulent, coffee finish hits you just like the final two songs of the album, "Peace in Mississippi" and "In From the Storm."  I'll sum up this post describing both the brew and the tunes in the words of David Crosby(?) from "4 Way Street,"... "Sheer profundity."  Check out Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout at http://www.samuelsmithsbrewery.co.uk/imperialstout.html
