February 10th, 2012 - The Devil's Rain is a Brutal IPA!

This one goes out to my good buddy, Fischbox... what better pairing for Rogue's Brutal IPA than the Misfits?  But as much as I love and prefer the old Misfits (although Danzig is a goofy, macho-fool... hehehe), I thought I'd give their latest album, "The Devil's Rain" a spin with the Brutal IPA.

"The Devil's Rain" is a fun, old-school punk/rockabilly outing with lots of great hooks and the classic Misfits sound (although a bit more polished and produced now.)  With catchy, fast-paced rockers like "Vivid Red," "Twilight of the Dead," "Curse of the Mummy's Hand," and "Jack the Ripper," Jerry Only (and his evil Elvis vocal style) and the boys do a great job of keeping the spirit of the band alive.  This is a solid effort that although not as good as the original work, is still a great album and lends itself well to the Misfits legacy and as a companion piece to Brutal IPA.

The Rogue Brutal IPA is 22 ounces of hoppy goodness!  With Crystal and Perle hops, bring a big floral, hoppy aroma that definitely catches your attention like the opening guitar note of "The Devil's Rain."  Brutal IPA hits you with Carawheat, C15, and Great Western 2-Row malts along with the citrusy, sharp, and bitter flavor of the hops.  Like the "Ghost of Frankenstein," this is a full-bodied, flavorful presentation with strength, depth, and definitely quite enjoyable for an evening with good friends!  And it has a very nice finish... right along with ""The Devil's Rain" finale, "Death Ray" (love the laser sound effects during the big finish!)
