April 26th, 2014 - Tramp Stamped Underfoot By Jimmy Page's Clown Shoes?!

Afternoon my friends!  The Meista here with another rockin' craft beer and heavy duty rock album pairing... today I'm going with a Tramp Stamp Belgian-Style India Pale Ale from Clown Shoes and the 2-disc bootleg concert album "Trampled Underfoot" from the mighty Led Zeppelin!  This pairing goes out to my good buddy Wes, who brought back a copy of this album from Europe for me way back in 1990... cheers Weezy!!

The Tramp Stamp Belgian-Style India Pale Ale from Clown Shoes outta Ipswich, Massachusetts blends complex malts, Chambly yeast, orange peel, and spices along with Amarillo, Centennial, and Columbus hops. The Tramp Stamp pours a hazy, deeply toffee-hued amber with a thin, white head that leaves only trace lacing.  The nose is nice and citrusy with subtle hints of Belgian yeast and cracker.  There are aromas of pink grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine.  Light to medium bodied, the mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing... a great beer for hot weather.  The flavor is big citrus and bready malt flavor.  There are notes of Belgian yeasts, subtle spices, subtle grassy hops, slightly toasted bread, and big citrus (grapefruit, orange, lemon zest, and tangerine) and mango notes.  The Tramp Stamp finishes clean with a refreshing and zesty spice note on the back of the tongue.

Recorded (illegally) through the soundboard in Dallas, TX on March 4th, 1975, "Trampled Underfoot" is a wonderful performance by one of the greatest hard rock acts at the height of their popularity.  I think this recording may actually be better than the official "Song Remains The Same" although the drums are a bit tinty and the fade out on the last song is a bit annoying.  The band is at the top of their game with this performance and completely tears it up on songs like "Over The Hills And Far Away", "In My Time Of Dying", "Kashmir", "No Quarter" and "Trampled Underfoot" to name a few!  Here's the full, amazing set list:
  1. Rock And Roll
  2. Sick Again
  3. Over The Hills And Far Away
  4. In My Time Of Dying
  5. The Song Remains The Same
  6. The Rain Song
  7. Kashmir
  8. No Quarter
  9. Trampled Underfoot
  10. Moby Dick (fades out during drum solo)
If you can get your hands on this gem, I highly recommend it... and spin it with a Tramp Stamp or two in your glass!!

Cheers!!
