    Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Brouwerij Het Anker
  • Website:
  • Brew: Lucifer
  • Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale
  • Serving: 12 ounce bottle
  • ABV: 8%
  • IBUs: 24
  • Pour: In a frosted schooner, Lucifer pours a very pale and hazy yellow-blonde hue with a 2-finger, foamy head that leave pronounced and sustained lacing upon dissipation.
  • Nose: The nose produces a rather vibrant bouquet of floral hops and sweet fruits.  There are notes of ripe pear, soft banana, lemony zest, and Belgian yeast.
  • Taste: As the name of the beer denotes, Lucifer by Brouwerij Het Anker is an ale of deception.  It is sweet and mellow, but there is a sneaky boozy bite hidden in those ester notes.  The flavors are complex and multi-layered.  Also, this "fiery blonde" ale is top fermented giving it some farmhouse sour "funk," but with the utmost subtlety.  The Lucifer also has some nice blended flavors of white wine, pear, and a touch of spice and bitter hops.
  • Mouthfeel: It is very crisp, very frothy, very refreshing, and somewhat dry.
Overall pairing: The complexity and hidden, boozy kick of this ale is great for the amped up aggression of "From The Very Depths"... a very nice brew to contemplate the evil genius of the mighty VENOM!!

Well, I'm going to fall into the rest of the very depths of my glass of Lucifer with Venom as my guide... cheers and HAILS!!
