December 31st, 2015 - Getting Resltess And Wild With A Stiegl Pils

Guten tag rockers and beer drinkers!  And happy new year!!  The Meista here pairing Accept's classic "Restless And Wild" and a Stiegl Pils from Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH!

Album Info:
  • Artist: Accept
  • Title: "Restless And Wild"
  • Recorded: February through March and June 1982 at Dierks Studios, Cologne, Germany
  • Release date: October 2nd, 1982 (4th studio album by Accept)
  • Record company: Portrait Records
  • Production: Accept
  • Album cover art: Stefan Böhle/Studio Icks
  • Personnel: Peter Baltes (bass), Udo Dirkschneider (vocals), Herman Frank (guitars), Wolf Hoffmann (guitars), and Stefan Kaufmann (drums)
  • Musical style: Heavy metal/hard rock and speed metal
  • Sound: Fast, fiery, and fist-pumping fun, "Restless And Wild" is one of those albums that you must crank up and bob your head if not bang it!  Of the album, Hoffmann stated, "Looking back maybe we think 'Fast as a Shark' was the first speed metal song ever, but at the time we sorta just had fun and we didn't think it was anything dramatically new.  Obviously, maybe what was so cool about this time was that we weren't thinking so much. We were just ballsy and tried to do things without having much to lose."
  • Major themes: Fast living, rock and roll/metal, partying, the occult, sword and sorcery fantasy, etc.
  • Note: "Fast As A Shark" is credited by man as the first speed metal song, but as with much music history, this is up for debate.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Fast As A Shark"
  2. "Restless And Wild"
  3. "Ahead Of The Pack"
  4. "Shake Your Heads"
  5. "Neon Nights"
  6. "Get Ready"
  7. "Demon's Night"
  8. "Flash Rockin' Man"
  9. "Don't Go Stealing My Soul Away"
  10. "Princess Of The Dawn"

  • Nose: The nose is very grassy, hoppy, slightly fruity, slightly skunky, and grainy.  There are notes of floral hops, cereal grain, apple, and fresh herbs and spices.
  • Taste: Like the nose, the taste of the Stiegl Pils is a classic Austrian Pilsener.  There are big grassy hops, bright grains, light fruit flavors (apple and pear), and spices (white pepper).
  • Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and well-carbonated, the mouthfeel is very crisp and refreshing with a distinct bitter and hoppy finish.
Overall pairing: The Stiegl Pils from Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH, with its light body, easy drinking character, and hoppy bitterness is perfect to throw back whilst rocking out to the head banging, fist-pumping fast and furious fun that is Accept's "Restless And Wild"!!  That crisp body screams 1980s German metal!

Prost!!
