July 19th, 2018 - A Peanut Butter Milk Stout For Lucifer II

Good evening evil-doers! The Meista here tonight getting heavy, dark, and a little evil with "Lucifer II", the brand new, sophomore album from Lucifer and a Peanut Butter Milk Stout from Belching Beaver Brewery!

Album Info:
  • Artist: Lucifer
  • Title: "Lucifer II"
  • Recorded: 2018 at Honk Studios in Stockholm, Sweden
  • Release date: July 6th, 2018 (2nd album by Lucifer)
  • Record company: Century Media Records
  • Production: Johanna Sadonis
  • Album cover art: Johanna Sadonis (art direction) and Ester Segarra (photography)
  • Personnel: Nicke Andersson (guitars and drums), Johanna Sadonis (vocals), and Robin Tidebrink (guitars)
  • Musical style: Hard rock, stoner rock, doom metal with elements of rock and roll, blues rock, psychedelia, and folk rock
  • Sound: With a heavy dose of early 1970s hard rock and proto-metal (influence from Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, and Heart), "Lucifer II" is a little brighter and maybe more up-key than their debut album, yet it still lays down that hard-hitting, heavy as hell musical journey Lucifer is known for!  Sadonis' vocals are pure, occult magic (hauntingly soulfully and emotionally beautiful)!  And Andersson and Tidebrink laydown the heaviest of the heavy with style, intensity, and panache!
  • Major themes: Life, death, darkness, desire, reality, dreams, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "California Son"
  2. "Dreamer"
  3. "Phoenix"
  4. "Dancing With Mr. D" (Rolling Stones cover)
  5. "Reaper On Your Heals"
  6. "Eyes In The Sky"
  7. "Before The Sun"
  8. "Aton"
  9. "Faux Pharaoh"

  • Pour: The Peanut Butter Milk Stout pours a deep mahogany with a creamy and firm 2-finger mocha head with great retention and lots of sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is packed full of nutty, chocolaty, and earthy goodness.  There are aromas of fresh roasted peanuts, peanut butter, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, fresh cream, vanilla bean, medium roasted coffee, soft banana, and sweet toffee.
  • Taste: The taste is sweet, nutty, and chocolaty.  There are flavors of creamy peanut butter, roasted peanuts, hazelnut, chocolate malt, cocoa, milk chocolate, light coffee, fresh cream, soft marshmallow, and sweet caramel/toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with low carbonation, the mouthfeel of the Peanut Butter Milk Stout is silky smooth, creamy, and velvety with a dry, sweet finish.
Overall pairing: The Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout is a decadent and wonderfully complex brew... perfect for the heavy-hitting, fist-pumping, head-banging stoner goodness of Lucifer's sophomore album, "Lucifer II)!!  Those rich and earthy flavors really bring out the sludgy, doomy, rockin' '70s sound of Lucifer, while the sweet chocolate/peanut butter flavor and silkiness of the mouthfeel is perfect for the sensuous and slightly sultry vocals of Ms. Sardonis!

Prost!!  Hail Lucifer!!
