Good evening evil-doers! The Meista here tonight getting heavy, dark, and a little evil with "Full Upon Her Burning Lips", the latest album from drone metal band Earth and a Peanut Butter Milk Stout from Belching Beaver Brewery!  This pairing goes out to my man Matt LaMoure!  Cheers my friend!!

  • Musical style: Drone metal, doom metal withe elements of stoner rock/metal, experimental rock, pyschedelic rock, and post-rock
  • Sound: With a heavy dose of sludgy guitars and slow and monotonous and steady drumming, on "Full Upon Her Burning Lips", Earth has returned to their earlier doom roots.  The album is slow, heavy, atmospheric, and filled with wonderful minimalist riffs.
  • Major themes: "Full Upon Her Burning Lips" is an instrumental album so thematic content is pretty much open to interpretation.  I feel like there is an overall sense of impending doom, darkness, death, life, solitude, art, etc.

  1. "Datura's Crimson Veils"
  2. "Exaltation Of Larks"
  3. "Cats On The Briar"
  4. "The Colour Of Poison"
  5. "Descending Belladonna"
  6. "She Rides An Air Of Malevolence"
  7. "Maidens Catafalque"
  8. "An Unnatural Carousel"

  • Pour: The Peanut Butter Milk Stout pours a deep, dark mahogany with a creamy and firm 2-finger mocha head with great retention and lots of sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is packed full of nutty, chocolaty, and earthy goodness.  There are aromas of fresh roasted peanuts, peanut butter, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, fresh cream, vanilla bean, medium roasted coffee, very soft banana, and sweet toffee.
  • Taste: The taste is sweet, rich, nutty, and chocolaty.  There are flavors of creamy peanut butter, roasted peanuts, hazelnut, chocolate malt, cocoa, milk chocolate, light coffee, fresh cream, soft marshmallow, and sweet caramel/toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with low carbonation, the mouthfeel of the Peanut Butter Milk Stout is silky smooth, creamy, and velvety with a dry, sweet finish.

Overall pairing: The Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout is a decadent, thick, and wonderfully complex brew... perfect for the heavy-hitting, slow, doomy goodness of Earth's "Full Upon Her Buring Lips"!  Those rich and earthy flavors really bring out the sludgy, doomy sound, while the sweet chocolate/peanut butter flavor and silkiness of the mouthfeel is perfect for the rich guitar tones and riffs!

Hails!!
