  Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Shades Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: https://www.shadesbrewing.beer/
  • Brew: Double Trub'l Double IPA
  • Style: Double India Pale Ale (DIPA) / Imperial IPA (IIPA)
  • Serving: 12 ounce bottle
  • ABV: 9.0%
  • Pour: The Double Trub'l Double IPA pours a cloudy golden peach color with a 1-finger, firm and creamy white head with good sustain that leaves sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is very citrusy, fruity, hoppy, and grainy.  There are aromas of grapefruit rind, navel orange peel, orange juice, tangerine, pineapple, mango, grassy hops, pale malt, and a hint of soft caramel.
  • Taste: The taste of the Double Trub'l Double IPA is citrusy, resiny, earthy, and herbal.  There are notes of pink grapefruit, orange peel, mango, pineapple, pine, bitter herbal tea, white pepper, booze, and a hint of honey.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is very crisp, very bitter, and dry, with a very dry and peppery finish.

Overall pairing: The Double Trub'l Double IPA from Shades is a hop-forward, aggressively citrusy brew... perfect for the power metal onslaught that is Vektor's "Terminal Redux"!  Those punchy, bright, and citrusy notes go great with wonderful dual guitar work of Nelson and DiSanto, while the bitter, herbal flavors are great for lyrical content and the wonderfully rich and aggressive vocal attack of DiSanto, and that boozy, malty backbone is all about the monster rhythm section of Anderson and Chin!

Hails!!
