  • Sound: Wonderfully blending the chaotic speed of black metal, and the brutal heaviness of death metal, on "Auric Gates Of Veles", Hate lays down a face-melting musical journey of darkness, aggression, and rage!  The melodies are dark and mesmerizing, the drumming is machine gun fire blast beat intensity, the guitars are fast, fiery, and infernal, and the vocals are deep, guttaral, and steeped in old-school death metal brutatlity!

    Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Desert Edge Brewery (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: https://desertedgebrewery.com/
  • Brew: Pro Tem 5
  • Style: American Pale Ale (APA)
  • Serving: 12 ounce test can
  • ABV: 5.0%
  • IBUs: 50
  • Ingredients: Pale, Vienna, and Crystal 77 malts with Simco, Amarillo, and Mosaic hops
  • Pour: The Pro Tem 5 pours a hazy golden with a creamy and firm, eggshell-white 2-finger head with great sustain and lots of sticky, intricate spider web lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is citrusy, somewhat dank, earthy, floral, and herbal. There are aromas of grapefruit rind, light pineapple, tangerine, stone fruit (apricot and peach), orange peel, a hint of mango, pine resin, a bit of fresh onion, herbal tea, and a hint of soft caramel.
  • Taste: Hop-forward, the taste of the Pro Tem 5 follows the nose with intensely bright, citrusy, spicy, and earthy flavors.  There are notes of pink grapefruit juice, orange pith, black tea, pine, a very light hint of onion, white pepper, bitter herbs, biscuity malt, and a hint of sweet toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium in body and moderately carbonated, the mouthfeel is very crisp, peppery, and slightly bitter with a dry finish and lingering hop bitterness.

Overall pairing: The hop-forward bitter and punchy flavors and aromas of Desert Edge's 5th edition of the Pro Tem are perfect for the blackened death metal intensity of Hate's kickass "Auric Gates Of Veles"!  For an evening of killer metal and deliciously crisp and complex flavor, I highly recommend both the brew and the album!  Even though it is "Hate", I Love this band, I Love this album, I Love this brewery, and I Love this beer!!

HAILS!!  Na zdrowie!!
