  • Brew: Cryptoporticus Philly Sour Double India Pale Ale
  • Style: Sour Double India Pale Ale (DIPA)
  • Serving: 16 ounce can

  • IBUs: 80
  • Ingredients: Philly Sour yeast, Pure Idaho Pilsner, High Color Pale Ale, Brumalt, and Crystal 30 malts with Strata, Vic Secret, Zappa, Citra Cryo, and Azacca hops
  • Pour: The Cryptoporticus pours a hazy, golden yellow hue with a half-finger, bright white head with good retention and lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is characterized by citrusy, tropical, tart, and slightly funky aromas.  There are notes of tangerine, lemon juice and zest, dried apricot, grapefruit juice, fresh pineapple, mango, and soft caramel.
  • Taste: Following the nose, the taste of the Cryptoporticus is a blend of citrusy and tropical hoppiness and slightly sour flavors.  There are notes of tart lemon, tangy apricot, pineapple, tangerine, orange pith, soft mango, light peach, and a hint of caramel.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with well-carbonation, the mouthfeel is very tart and very crisp with a dry, lip puckering, yet slightly sweet finish.

Overall Pairing: The hop-forward, citrusy, and tart punch of Level Crossing's delicious Cryptoporticus Philly Sour DIPA is perfect for the aggression, fiery riffs, and killer hooks of this kick-ass compilation!  The more bitter flavors (grapefruit rind, orange pith, tea, etc.) are great for the lyrical content and brutal vocals of DiSalvo, McGachy, and Lord Worm, while the brighter and tarter flavors go great with the amazing guitar attacks of Auburn, Levasseur, Raymond, Roy and Thibault!  And those subtle, yet bold malt notes are prefect for the thunderous and insane drumming of Flor and bass onslaught of Fergusson, Langlois, and Raymond!  I highly recommend both the album and the beer!

Cheers and hails!!
