Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Melvin Brewing Company (Alpine, Wyoming)
  • Website: http://www.melvinbrewing.com/
  • Brew: Sour Soul Vol. 1
  • Style: Sour Ale
  • Serving: 16 ounce can
  • ABV: 4.0%
  • Pour: The Sour Soul Vol. 1 pours a hazy golden yellow with a bright white, frothy and billowy 2+ finger head that dissipates fairly quickly and leaves only trace lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is fruity, tart, and lightly grainy.  There are aromas of lemon juice, freshly sliced passion fruit, freshly sliced guava, tangerine, hints of grapefruit, raspberries, cereal grain, and light wheat.
  • Taste: The taste of the Sour Soul Vol. 1 follows the nose with lots of tart and fruity flavors.  There are notes of bright passion fruit, guava, cranberry, raspberry, lemon juice, hints of pink grapefruit juice, and light grains.
  • Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and well-carbonated, the mouthfeel is very crisp, rather tart, effervescent, and juicy, yet smooth with a dry, lip-puckering and slightly sweet finish.

Overall pairing: The Sour Soul Vol. 1r is a bright, tart, fruity, and crushable brew that wonderfully compliments the bluesy rock and roll vibe of Mr. Vaughan and friends on "Soul To Soul"!  I also thought the album cover art and the label worked well together.  'Nuff said!

Cheers!!  Rock on!!
