Brew Info:

  • Brewery: T.F. Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: https://www.tfbrewing.com/
  • Brew: ZoZo Pastry Stout
  • Style: Imperial Pastry Stout
  • Serving: 16 ounce can
  • ABV: 12.2%
  • Ingredients: Pastry stout made with Columbus hops, banana, hazelnut, and toasted coconut and aged in High West Bourbon barrels
  • Pour: The ZoZo Pastry Stout pours a deep, dark brown (almost ink black) with a billowy and creamy mocha head that dissipates to a thin, yet sustained ring with sticky lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is rich, chocolaty, sweet, malty, and boozy. There are aromas of fresh banana, dark chocolate, cocoa, freshly baked chocolate brownies, toasted coconut, marshmallow, light cream, roasted malts, roasted hazelnuts, a hint of espresso, bourbon, oak, and sweet toffee.
  • Taste: The taste of the ZoZo Pastry Stout follows the nose with lots of complex, rich, roasty, boozy, and sweet flavors.  There are notes of bananas foster, brownie batter, toasted coconut, cacao nibs, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, dark roasted coffee, dark toasted malts, burnt toffee/caramel, and bourbon and crème de cocoa.
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with low carbonation, the mouthfeel of the ZoZo Pastry Stout is thick, velvety and sticky, with a dry, sweet, and boozy finish.

Overall pairing: With the more ambitious, complex, boozy, yet sweet flavors of T.F.'s delightful ZoZo Pastry Stout, it is a perfect companion to the darkness and infernal aggression of the kick-ass and wonderful "Sacraments Of Descension"!  I highly recommend the album and the beer!  'Nuff said!

Cheers!!  Hails!!
