Hello and happy Wednesday rockers, rollers, and craft beer fans!  I present to you an epic pairing from beyond the stars!  The Meista here tonight pairing the very amazing "Extraterrestrial Live" album by the mighty Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC) and a delicious and spicy It's An Alien Hefeweizen Ale from Vernal Brewing Company!!

  • Pour: The It's An Alien Hefeweizen Ale pours clear, golden-yellow hue with a 2+ finger, frothy and creamy, off-white head with great retention and lots of sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is malty, grainy, spicy, and slightly sweet.  There are aromas of freshly baked bread, ripe banana esters, spice cloves, nutmeg, and a splash of honey.
  • Taste: An incredibly well-balanced beer, the taste of the It's An Alien Hefeweizen Ale is a blend of malty, grainy, fruity, and spicy flavors.  There are notes of toasted malts, fresh bread, clover honey, cloves, nutmeg, banana, and light caramel.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is crisp and very smooth with a dry, spicy, and slightly sweet finish.

Overall pairing: The Vernal Brewing It's An Alien Hefeweizen Ale is perfect for the rockin' heavy -duty punch of BÖC's brilliant "Extraterrestrial Live"!  Those spicy flavors coupled with the sweeter bready and fruity notes go great with Buck's electrifying guitar work, and the power of the bass and drums!  'Nuff said!
