- Pour: The Black Hill pours a an opaque, deep, dark brown hue with red flecks and a thin, light beige head that dissipates to a thin ring with very light lacing.
- Nose: The nose is roasty, toasty, malty. There are aromas of dark toasted bread, espresso beans, roasted barley, roasted malts, and a hint of burnt toffee.
- Taste: The taste of the Black Hill follows the nose with roasty, toasty, and malty flavors. There are notes of toasted rye bread, roasted barley, light coffee, and soft toffee.
- Mouthfeel: Light to medium-bodied and moderately carbonated, the mouthfeel is smooth, with a dry, clean finish.
Overall pairing: The Silver Reef Black Hill is a great, drinkable beer to crush whilst rockin' the hell out to the killer tunes on Golden Earring's "To The Hilt" album! I also love the look of the album cover artwork coupled with beer label art! 'Nuff said!
