March 11th, 2021 - Captain Dynamite Vs. The Gods Of Metal!

 

Good evening hellions and hop-heads!  I've got a great beer for you for tonight's pairing... the hop-forward and very tasty Voodoo Ranger Captain Dynamite IPA from the fine folks at New Belgium Brewing Company, which I'm pairing with a killer Metal Bastard Enterprises compilation album  called "Gods Of Metal Vol. 1" I found not long ago at Randy's Records in Salt Lake City, Utah!  Hells yeah!

• Pour: The Captain Dynamite IPA pours a hazy golden-yellow with a frothy, bright white, 1-finger head with good retention and lots of sticky, intricate lacing.
• Nose: The nose is very tropical, citrusy, floral, herbal, dank, and slightly boozy.  There are aromas of  grapefruit rind, tangerine, pineapple, mango, wild flowers, green hop flowers, light pine resin, spicy herbs, and a hint of booze.
• Taste: The taste of the Captain Dynamite IPA follows the nose with lots of punchy, hop-forward, citrusy and tropical fruit flavors.  There are notes of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, tangerine, bitter herbs, crackery biscuit, light pine, herbal tea, and soft caramel/toffee
• Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied and moderately carbonated, the Captain Dynamite IPA's mouthfeel is very crisp and very juicy with a dry and slightly bitter finish.

Overall pairing: The bright, crisp, complex, and very crushable flavors of the Captain Dynamite IPA from New Belgium is the perfect foil for the dark and brutal death metal crunch of "Gods Of Metal Vol. 1"!  The tropical and citrus hop flavors of the brew conger images of lush, otherworldly  jungles while the album congers images of the evils and demons of hell itself... together creating a wonderfully mesmerizing taste and sonic experience!
