Hello and happy Friday evil-doers! Your metal drinkin' buddy the Meista here today pairing a tasty and crushable Do Less West Coast India Pale Ale from Proper Brewing Company and Type O Negative's wonderful final album "Dead Again"! Oh yeah! This pairing goes out to my stepson... he turns the big 21 today! Cheers buddy!
- Artist: Type O Negative
- Title: "Dead Again"
- Recorded: Late 2006 and early 2007 at Systems Two in Brooklyn, New York, Sty In The Sky in Brooklyn, New York, and Paul Bento's Studio in Brooklyn, New York
- Release date: March 13th, 2007 (7th and sadly, final studio album by Type O Negative)
- Record company: Steamhammer
- Production: Josh Silver and Peter Steele
- Album cover art: Peter Steele (art direction and design)
- Personnel: Kenny Hickey (guitars and backing vocals), Johnny Kelly (drums and backing vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards and backing vocals), and Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass, additional guitars, and keyboards)
- Guest musicians: Paul Bento (sitar and tambura), Bensonhoist Lesbian Choir (choir vocals), and Tara Vanflower (vocals on "Halloween In Heaven")
- Musical style: Gothic metal/rock, doom metal
- Sound: Blending elements of doom metal and classic metal with gothic rock and post punk, the sound on "Dead Again" is pure Type O Negative! There are huge sludgy riffs and powerful melodies coupled with Bauhaus era Peter Murphy-esque vocals.
- Major themes: Death, darkness, dismay, misery, a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, romance, depression, etc.
- Notes: Sadly, this would be Type O Negative's final album, as Steele died on April 14th, 2010 of diverticulitis. Of his passing and the band's demise, bandmate Kelly stated: "Even if there is somebody who could take his place it wouldn't matter. We don't have any interest in continuing. It's impossible – it hasn't even come up in any kind of discussion. When Peter died, Type O Negative died with him."
