Guten tag metal maniacs and hop freaks!  Happy Saturday!  Your metal drinkin' buddy the Meista here today pairing a hoppy and bold King Jjjuliusss Double IPA from Tree House Brewing Company and Holy Moses' kick-ass debut album "Queen Of Siam"!  Oh yeah!  This pairing goes out to my buddy Josh Sparrow... thanks very much for the beers my friend!!  Cheers brother!!

Album Info:
  • Artist: Holy Moses
  • Title: "Queen Of Siam"
  • Recorded: 1986 at Phönix Studio in Bochum, Germany
  • Release date: May 12th, 1986 (1st full-length studio album by Holy Moses)
  • Record company: Aaarrg Records / High Roller Records
  • Production: Ralph Hubert
  • Album cover art: Rainer Laws
  • Personnel: Ramon Brüssler (bass), Andy Classen (guitars), Sabina Classen (vocals), and Herbert Dreger (drums)
  • Guest musician: Jörg Michael (drums)
  • Musical style: Thrash metal, speed metal with elements of death metal
  • Sound: Raw, intense and ahead of its time, the sound on "Queen Of Siam" combines traditional speed metal with aggressive thrash and hints of extreme death metal that was just burgeoning at the time.  The guitar work is fiery fast, the rhythm section is a thunderous beast, and Sabina's vocals are some of the most intense and aggressive you will hear... especially at that time!  She is a true pioneer!
  • Major themes: Rebellion, death, destruction, rage, society, touring, drinking, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Necropolis"
  2. "Don't Mess Around With The Bitch"
  3. "Devil's Dancer"
  4. "Queen Of Siam"
  5. "Roadcrew"
  6. "Walpurgisnight"
  7. "Bursting Res"
  8. "Dear Little Friend"
  9. "Torches Of Hire"

Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Tree House Brewing Company ()
  • Website: https://treehousebrew.com/
  • Brew: King Jjjuliusss Double IPA
  • Style: Double India Pale Ale (DIPA) / Imperial IPA (IIPA)
  • Serving: 16 ounce can
  • ABV: 8.4%
  • Pour: The King Jjjuliusss pours a hazy, bright golden orange-yellow hue with a billowy, eggshell white, 2+ finger head with great sustain and lots of sticky lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is citrusy, fruity, resiny, and malty.  There are aromas of mango, orange, tangerine, grapefruit rind and juice, light pineapple, a hint of earthy pine resin and cedar, herbal tea, crackery biscuit, and soft sweet toffee.
  • Taste: The taste is like the nose: citrusy, tropical, hoppy, and slightly sweet.  There are notes of pink grapefruit juice, orange juice and pith, tangerine, light peach, dried apricots, mango, pineapple, pine, earthy herbs, and soft caramel/toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel of the King Jjjuliusss Double IPA is crisp with moderate bitterness, yet smooth and somewhat thick with a dry, slightly bitter finish.

Overall pairing: The Tree House King Jjjuliusss Double IPA is a big, bold, and very flavorful and complex brew... perfect for the metal intensity that is the mighty Holy Moses!  'Nuff said!

Raise your horns and glasses!!  Prost and hails!!
