- Website: https://vaultcity.co.uk/
- Brew: Fruits of the Forest Triple-Stacked Breakfast Waffle
- Style: Fruited Sour Ale
- Serving: 16 ounce can
- ABV: 10.3%
- Ingredients: Malted barley, oats, and lactose with blackberries, rhubarb, strawberries, apples, raspberries, and maple syrup
- Pour: The Fruits of the Forest Triple-Stacked Breakfast Waffle pours a murky, dull reddish hue with a frothy, light pink, half-finger head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with light lacing.
- Nose: The nose is very fruity and sweet, somewhat tart, and slightly boozy. There are bold aromas of maple syrup, freshly picked blackberries and raspberries, blackberry jam, raspberry jam, freshly picked strawberries, freshly cut rhubarb, light apple, lemon zest and juice, vanilla bean, waffles hot off the skillet, and a subtle hint of booze.
- Taste: The taste of the Fruits of the Forest Triple-Stacked Breakfast Waffle follows the nose with fruity, tart, malty, and sweet flavors. There are notes of blackberry and raspberry jam, tart rhubarb, freshly cut strawberries, sweet maple syrup, lemon juice and zest, cherry juice, rich vanilla, doughy waffles, a hint of caramel, and a hint of whiskey.
- Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated, the mouthfeel is tart and crisp, yet somewhat thick and chunky, and rather smooth with a tart, sweet, slightly boozy finish.
Overall pairing: The bold, very unique, fruity, and well-balanced flavors of the Fruits of the Forest Triple-Stacked Breakfast Waffle from Vault City work wonderfully well with the heavy metal onslaught that is the mighty Volcana! The fruity and tart flavors and aromas are great for complex and powerful songs, while the sweeter flavors mingle well with the vocals and soaring guitars! I also thought the killer album artwork and beer label worked very well together.
Cheers and hails!!
