August 23rd, 2025 - A Low Rider Hit and Run

Hey there rockers, rollers, headbangers, and craft beer freaks!  Happy Saturday!  The Meista here rocking the hell with a pairing of the brilliant "Hit And Run: Revisited", the 12th kick-ass, studio album by the legendary Girlschool and a Low Rider Chocolate Milk Stout from the folks at Salt Flats Brewing Company!  Oh yeah!

Album Info:

  • Artist: Girlschool
  • Title: "Hit And Run: Revisited"
  • Recorded: 2011 at Sonic One Studio in Llangennech, Wales
  • Release date: September 23rd, 2011 (12th studio album by Girlschool)
  • Record company: UDR Music / Wacken Records
  • Production: Tim Hamill and Girlschool
  • Album cover art: Adrian Chesterman
  • Personnel: Denise Dufort (drums), Jackie "Jax" Chambers (guitars and backing vocals), Kim McAuliffe (guitars, and lead and backing vocals), and Enid Williams (bass, and lead and backing vocals)
  • Guest musicians: Doro (vocals on "Hit And Run" (Duet Version))
  • Musical style: Heavy metal / hard rock with elements of punk and heavy blues
  • Sound: I'm always a little leery when a band decides to re-record a classic album of theirs, but this album freakin' rocks!!  It stays true to the original intent and focus of those early records, but has a heavier, more aggressive approach.  And the production is perfect!
  • Major themes: Life, independence, rock and roll, rebellion, partying, love, desire, etc.
  • Notes: The album is a re-recording of the 1981 album "Hit And Run" for its 30th anniversary.
  • Tracks:
  1. "C'mon Let's Go"
  2. "The Hunter"
  3. "I'm Your Victim"
  4. "Kick It Down"
  5. "Following The Crowd"
  6. "Tush" (ZZ Top Cover)
  7. "Hit And Run"
  8. "Watch Your Step"
  9. "Back To Start"
  10. "Yeah Right"
  11. "Future Flash"
  12. "Demolition Boys"
  13. "Hit And Run" (Duet Version)

Brew Info:

  • Brewery: Salt Flats Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: https://saltflatsbeer.com
  • Brew: Low Rider Chocolate Milk Stout
  • Style: Milk Stout
  • Serving: 16 ounce can
  • ABV: 7.5%
  • IBUs: 15
  • Ingredients: 2-Row, Munich, and Roasted Barley malts with Zues and Chinook hops
  • Pour: The Low Rider Chocolate Milk Stout pours a deep, very dark brown (almost ink black) hue with a creamy, mocha, 1+ finger head with great retention and lots of soapy lacing throughout.
  • Nose: The nose is chocolaty, malty, earthy, and slightly sweet.  There are aromas of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee beans, dark roasted malts, cream, earthy soil, and sweet toffee.
  • Taste: The taste of the Low Rider Chocolate Milk Stout follows the nose with malty, earthy, and chocolaty flavors.  There are notes of baker's dark chocolate, milk chocolate, espresso, fresh cream, a hint of marshmallow, and burnt toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with very low carbonation, the mouthfeel is thick, velvety smooth, creamy, and slightly sweet with a dry, bittersweet finish.

Overall pairing: With the killer heavy-duty rock and roll aggression of "Hit And Run: Revisited", you need a brew that has the same bold intensity!  Thus... the rich, chocolaty flavors of the Salt Flats Brewing Low Rider Chocolate Milk Stout is a great complimentary beverage to the fun, fast, and rockin' style of Girlschool!
