December 31st, 2011 - A Brave New Ale!

Well, it is New Year's Eve... so we are going BIG boys and girls, and I mean BIG!!  How about a collabrative brew from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head?  How about a maple and birch collabrative brew from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head called Life and Limb? How about a maple and birch collabrative brew from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head called Life and Limb paired with Iron Maiden's 2001 "Brave New World"... the Bruce Dickinson come back album?  That's right.., BIG!!  Big, bold, and heavy!!

Life and Limb is dark carmel in color.... almost mahogany and has a sweet boquet... you immediately smell the maple.   But don't let the nose fool you... the initial 10.2 percent flavor nails you right between the eyes as does the opening note of "The Wicker Man".  But boy it goes down smooth... on both counts!  Life and Limb's mouth-feel is almost in kin with a good stout, but there is a sharpness there that bites a bit like "The Mercenary".  The fusion of maple and birch create an almost magical and epic flavor... perfect for the transition into "The Nomad".   I'm reminded of Jordan almonds... the sweet and bitter fusion. The finish... oh the finish!   A real rich, woodsy taste that lingers for a minute or two... perfect finale along with "The Thin Line Between Love and Hate."   Check out the Life and Limb webpage for more info at http://www.life-limb.com/!

I'm in heaven here kids!!  A very happy and safe New Year to you all!!
