Hello and welcome! This silly blog is an experiment in my own vanity in terms of my opinions on craft beer and music and various pairings (much like you would do with food). I definitely want to express that I am no expert in terms of brewing or in musical composition. This is merely opinion, my opinion (sometimes clouded by consumption) with regards to enjoyable beers and music. Cheers! April 7th, 2013 - Double Barrel Assassins
And now we get raunchy and heavy as hell!! The Meista here with a pairing of W.A.S.P.'s live 1998 album "Double Assassins Live" and a Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale (DBA). You ready to go ****ing crazy? 'Cause I sure am!!
"Double Assassins Live" is the live album from the K.F.D tour from 1997-1998. As with any and all W.A.S.P. albums, "Double Assassins Live" is in-your-face, unapologetic, straight-ahead metal. The most impressive aspect of this album in my opinion is the overly aggressive guitar work (strike that... make that the overly aggressive guitar attack!) of Chris Holms (one of his last with W.A.S.P.) and Blackie's vocals. The firecraker drumming is by Stet Howland and Mike Duda provides the thunderous, horse-holf bass and back-up vocals. This is serious goddamned metal! They combine their early "hair" metal classics with the almost disturbing industrial metal of "K.F.D." Always a fan, this is the album that made me a true W.A.S.P. believer. It is truly what metal is all about. The live rendition of "Wild Child" is worth every dime of the price of this album! And "Animal"...oh "Animal"... pure profane metal for you right there! (Not to get political, but I just wish Blackie was still in this place.. oh well, at least "Double Assassins Live" will alway be in my circulation.)
The Firestone Walker DBA pours a wonderful, transparent copper-amber with a thin, white head. Selectively fermented in the Firestone Union oak barrel brewing system, the DBA consists of Premium Two-Row, Maris Otter Pale, Munich, Crystal, and Chocolate malts along with Bittering—Magnum; Late Kettle—Styrian Golding, East Kent Golding and dry hops—East Kent Golding. The nose is pure oak, earthy, smoky, and rich. The flavor is malty and at the same time hoppy. It is all-at-once aggressive and insanely drinkable. I am in love with this beer! A perfect beer for the profane power that is W.A.S.P., the Firestone DBA is almost too drinkable. Like a true metal head, I downed it without even flinching. :)

Raise your fists!! Cheers!!
