October 25th, 2013 - A Rustic Rye Aftershock!

Hails!!  For this afternoon's kick-ass entertainment the Meista (that's me) is pairing a Bootlegger's Brewery Rustic American Rye India Pale Ale (IPA) and the brand new, just released this week, just kicking my ass since I picked it up, "Aftershock" by the one and only Motörhead!! DAMN STRAIGHT!!

Let's talk beer!
Brewery: Bootlegger's Brewery out of Fullerton, CA http://www.bootleggersbrewery.com/
ABV: 6.2%
Pour: slightly hazy penny copper-amber with a 2-finger, frothy, off-white head with good retention and lacing.
Aroma: characterized by floral, herbal, and earthy hops, a little citrus, malty sweetness, and peppery notes.
Mouthfeel: slightly sticky, somewhat creamy, but wholly refreshing and crisp with a nice peppery bite... like my boys in Motörhead!
Flavor: well-balanced notes of malted barley, spicy rye, and tangy, sharp and floral hops.  There are notes of piney and herbal hops up front with rye bread, black pepper, and barley in the body and back.  There's a mellow caramel/toffee in the mid-range as well.  It has an almost "old-world" flavor... classic... again like my boys in Motörhead!
Finish: Nice and clean with subtle and lingering note of black pepper.

Now let's talk Motörhead!!
Album: "Aftershock" (21st studio album! Released October 22, 2013 in the U.S.)
Band: Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister  (thunder stick bass guitars and broken glass and gravel vocals), Phil "Wizzö" Campbell (richly textured acoustic and brutal electric lead and rhythm guitars), and Micael Kiriakos Delaoglou (aka Mikkey Dee) (TNT drums)
Sound: This is Motörhead... what do you expect?  It kicks ass!!  It has that classic Motörhead sound... overwhelmingly loud, explosive, honest, and wonderfully aggressive... pure rock and roll!!
Rating: 10/10... I fuckin' love this album!!!
Lemmy quote: "I play a lot of notes, but I also play a lot of chords. And I play a lot of open strings. I just don't play like a bass player. There are complaints about me from time to time. It's not like having a bass player; it's like having a deep guitarist."
