March 15th, 2014 - Ashes Of The Brew... The Lamb Of God / The Baba Of Uinta

I've got questions for ya tonight my friends!  You ready for some bad-ass shit my friends?!  How's 'bout some heaviness from our Virginian friends Lamb of God and their 2004 album "Ashes Of The Wake" along with a Baba Black Lager from Uinta Brewing Company outta Salt Lake City, Utah?!  I know, I know... I've paired this brew a couple times already now... but it fits so wonderfully with the extreme intensity and complexity of  "Ashes Of The Wake"!  And this pairing goes out to my bad-ass metal brothas in arms, Jerm, Rick, and Dallas, the kick-ass vocalist of death metal band DiseNgaged!!

Wow... what can you say about "Ashes Of The Wake", Lamb Of God's brilliant 4th studio album release on August 31st, 2004?  The guitar work alone of Mark Morton and Willlie Adler will melt your goddamn face!  Combine that with brutal rhythm section of John Campbell (bass), Chris Adler (drums) and Randy Blythe's insane vocals... you've got yourself a KILLER extreme metal band!!  (And did you know that Alex Skolnick of Testament and Chris Poland of Megedeth fame provided additional guitar work on the title track, "Ashes Of The Wake"??  I know... fuckin' brutal, right?!)   As powerful as everything recorded since, songs like "Laid To Rest", "Hourglass", "Now You've Got Something To Die For," "Blood Of The Scribe", "What I've Become", and the title track "Ashes Of The Wake" helped solidify the metal prowess of Lamb Of God indefinitely!

Lamb of God deserves a rich and flavorful black beer, don't ya think?  The Baba Black Lager from Uinta Brewing Company is a Schwarzbier that definitely fits that bill!  Here's a breakdown of the Baba Black Lager:
Pour/appearance - dark mahogany (almost ink black) with a frothy and monstrous mocha head
Nose - dark chocolate, heavy roasted barley, liquid smoke, smoked bacon.
Flavor - big roasted barley notes, roasted malts, coffee bean, with a hint of cocoa, rich soil.
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium carbonation, smooth, and some really nice smokiness in the finish.
Overall - brewed with a organic barley and hops, this is a wonderfully sessionable dark lager that works great with the black metal onslaught of Lamb Of God!!

Cheers and hails!!
