May 13th, 2014 - The Way Of The Flesh... In 90 Minutes

Good evening!  The Meista here with another interesting pairing for you... tonight I'm going with Gojira's "The Way Of All Flesh" and a 90 Minute Imperial IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery!

The 90 Minute Imperial IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery is a big and bold 9% ABV Double IPA/Imperial IPA.  It pours a rich, hazy copper-amber with an off-white, frothy head that leave sustained lacing.  Both the nose and flavor are characterized by a wonderful balance of biting, citrusy hops and sweet, bready malts.  There are notes of grapefruit and lemon along with caramel and sweet bread.  Combining a sweet and thick malt backbone with an upfront hop bite, the 90 Minute Imperial IPA is an aggressive, yet smooth brew, which is great for the both melodic and brutally intense nature of Gojira's music!

And speaking of bold, interesting, "The Way of All Flesh" is the fourth studio album by French progressive death metal band Gojira.  It was released on October 13th, 2008.  Personnel on the album include: Joe Duplantier (vocals, guitar, production, cover artwork), Christian Andreu (guitar), Jean-Michel Labadie (bass guitar), and Mario Duplantier (drums) with Lamb Of God vocalist Randy Blythe (guest vocals on "Adoration for None").  Of the album Joe Duplantier described it as "more intense, more brutal, and more melodic" than earlier albums.  It is "a lot darker — like, a lot darker, I would say. The music is darker and more violent.  That's the theme — it's about death itself.  It's also about the immortality of the soul. That's the main subject for us".

À votre santé!!
