May 23rd, 2014 - A Big Hoppy Omertà... or... Terrapin Mob

Hello my drinkin' buddies!  The Meista here with another rockin' pairing for ya: "Omertà" from Adrenaline Mob and a Oaked Big Hoppy Monster from Terrapin Beer Company outta Athens, Georgia!  Hell yeah!!

Omertà: (/ɵˈmɛərtə/; Italian pronunciation: [omerˈta]) is a cultural expression and code of honor that places legitimate importance on a deep-rooted family sense of a "code of silence", non-aggravation with authorities, and non-interference in the legal actions of others.  Released on March 13th, 2012, "Omertà" is the is the debut full-length album by American heavy metal "super group" Adrenaline Mob.  The band is made up of vocalist Russell Allen (Symphony X), guitarist Mike Orlando (on guitars and bass) and drummer Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater, The Winery Dogs, Transatlantic, etc.).  As the band's name implies, musically Adrenaline Mob is fast-paced, aggressive rock and roll.  This is big, meaty stuff!  Allen's vocals are booming and powerful... perfect for the high-octane sound of Portnoy and Orlando!  Each and every song on here fuckin' rocks!  Here's the full, kick-ass track list:
1."Undaunted"
2."Psychosane"
3."Indifferent"
4."All on the Line"
5."Hit the Wall"
6."Feelin' Me"
7."Come Undone" (Duran Duran cover featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm)
8."Believe Me"
9."Down to the Floor"
10."Angel Sky"
11."Freight Train"

The Oaked Big Hoppy Monster from Terrapin Beer Company is exactly as the name implies... a BIG, hoppy, monster of a brew!  Coming in at 10.3% ABV and 75 IBU, the Oaked Big Hoppy Monster is a flavorful Oak Aged Imperial Red Ale with lots of bite... perfect for the aggression and high-octane metal of Adrenaline Mob's "Omertà"!  It pours a dark, mahogany red with a thin, tan head.  The nose is a combination of big woodsy oak aromas and sweet malts along with some piney hops.  Medium to full-bodied, the mouthfeel is fairly smooth, but somewhat sticky.  The flavor is sweet and oaky with some really nice mild bitter hops to give it almost perfect balance.  There are notes of sweet caramel, big bready malts, oak, black tea, and bitter herbs.  This brew is about as close to a barley wine without being a barley wine as you can get.  This is one helluva brew... perfect for one helluva record!!

Crank it up!!  Salute!!
