July 4th, 2014 - Live Priest With The Publican

Good evening rockers and craft beer lovers!  The Meista here tonight pairing a Publican Pale Ale from Shades Of Pale Brewing Company outta Park City, Utah and double album "Priest...Live!" from the metal gods themselves, Judas Priest!!  Hell yeah!!

The Publican from Shades Of Pale Brewing Company is an American Pale Ale (APA).  It pours a nice, cloudy golden-orange amber with a 2-finger white head that leaves intricate spider web lacing.  The nose is characterized by a well-balanced aroma of citrus and caramel malt.   There are mellow notes of lemon grass, tangerine, grapefruit, and soft caramel.  Light-bodied, the mouthfeel is very crisp, very dry, very refreshing, and slightly sharp.  Coming in at 4% ABV, the flavor is rather mellow for a pale ale, but it is quite tasty and goes down easy... maybe a little too easy when rockin' out to Priest!  :)  There are notes of crackery malt, herbs, and some nice floral notes as well.  Although the nose is quite citrusy, it doesn't really come out in the flavor.  But still, a good, sessionable pale.

Recorded at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia on June 15th, 1986 and the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas on June 27th, 1986 and released on June 21st, 1987, "Priest...Live!" is the 2nd live album and 12th overall album by Judas Priest.  Recorded during the Fuel for Life Tour supporting the "Turbo" album, the original version of "Priest...Live!"  I picked up this vinyl beauty not long after it was released. and listen to it religiously still!  Is there anything better than live Priest??  Very little in my humble opinion!  The gods: Rob Halford – vocals, K. K. Downing – lead and rhythm guitars and synth guitars, Glenn Tipton – lead and rhythm guitars and synth guitars, Ian Hill – bass guitar, and Dave Holland – drums.  Here's the full, mind-blowing track list:
