Good evening!  Your drinkin' buddy the Meista here pairing the wonderful "Dream Police" by Cheap Trick and a (now retired) Peach Party from Woodland Empire Ale Craft!

  • Additional musicians: Steve Lukather (guitar on "Voices") and Jai Winding (organ, piano, and keyboards)
  • Musical style: Hard rock, rock and roll, power pop
  • Sound: Combining elements of the Beatles, '50s rock and roll, and 1970s American punk rock, Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" is a fun and rambunctious album.  As with every Cheap Trick album, the musicianship is top notch!  In my humble opinion, Cheap Trick has always been a very underrated band and for me, really represents American rock and roll as a whole!
  • Major themes: Dreams, insanity, desire, lust, love, influence, rebellion, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Dream Police"
  2. "Way Of The World"
  3. "The House Is Rockin' (With Domestic Problems)"
  4. "Gonna Raise Hell"
  5. "I'll Be With You Tonight"
  6. "Voices"
  7. "Writing On The Wall"
  8. "I Know What I Want"
  9. "Need Your Love"
Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Woodland Empire Ale Craft (Boise, Idaho)
  • Website: http://woodlandempire.com/
  • Brew: Peach Party
  • Style: American Wild Ale
  • Serving: 12 ounce can
  • ABV: 5.0%
  • Pour: The Peach Party pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a billowing and frothy 2+ finger head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving very little lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is fruity, tart, and grainy with notes of fresh peach, apricot, lemon juice and zest, light vinegar, and cereal grains.
  • Taste: The taste of the Peach Party follows the nose with Berliner Weiss-esque characteristics.  There are notes of lemon juice, light peach, light under ripe apricot, sourdough bread, a hint of barnyard funk, and a hint of honey.
  • Mouthfeel: Light to medium in body and well-carbonated, the mouthfeel of the Peach Party is very crisp and tart with a fairly clean finish.
Overall pairing: The bright, fruity, tart aromas and flavors of Woodland Empire's Peach Party make for an excellent pairing with the punchy, straightforward rock and roll stylings of Cheap Trick's kickass "Dream Police" album!

Cheers!!  Rock on!!
