  • Musical style: Power metal/heavy metal with elements of progressive metal, neo-classical metal, and doom metal
  • Sound: This is pure power metal with driving guitars, thunderous drum and bass rhythms, and soaring and aggressive vocal acrobatics!  Building on the songwriting of their last album, with "Savage Gods", Sonic Prophecy takes everything one step further.  There's more variation here than on previous albums and the band's musical prowess is really quite astounding!  From the opening notes of "Savage Gods" to the closing notes of "Chasing The Horizon", you'll find yourself totally transfixed!

    Brew Info:
  • Brewery: Shades Of Pale Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: http://shadesofpale.com/
  • Brew: Double Trub'l Double IPA
  • Style: Double India Pale Ale (DIPA) / Imperial IPA (IIPA)
  • Serving: 12 ounce bottle
  • ABV: 9.0%
  • Pour: The Double Trub'l Double IPA pours a cloudy golden peach color with a 1-finger, firm and creamy white head with good sustain that leaves sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is very citrusy, fruity, hoppy, and grainy.  There are aromas of grapefruit rind, navel orange peel, orange juice, tangerine, grassy hops, pale malt, and a hint of soft caramel.
  • Taste: The taste of the Double Trub'l Double IPA is citrusy, resiny, earthy, and herbal.  There are notes of pink grapefruit, orange peel, pine, bitter herbal tea, sharp minerals, white pepper, booze, and a hint of honey.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is very crisp, very bitter, and dry, with a very dry and peppery finish.

Overall pairing: The Double Trub'l Double IPA from Shades Of Pale is a hop-forward, aggressively citrusy brew... perfect for the power metal onslaught that is Sonic Prophecy's "Savage Gods"!  Those punchy, bright, and citrusy notes go great with wonderful dual guitar work of Goodman and Martin, while the bitter, herbal flavors are great for lyrical content and the wonderfully rich and aggressive vocal attack of Provstgaard, and that boozy, malty backbone is all about the monster rhythm section of Levere and Zemanek!

Cheers!!  Hails!!
