November 3rd, 2019 - Woe And Revenge For The Vanquished

Good evening rivet-heads and hop-heads! How about a Warbring double whamy tonight?  I posted the interview with John Kevill earlier today.  Now the Meista is here tonight rocking the hell out with a pairing of a signed copy of Warbringer's kickass "Woe To The Vanquished" and a Revenge Double India Pale Ale from Proper Brewing Company!!  HELL. YES.

Album Info:
  • Artist: Warbringer
  • Title: "Woe To The Vanquished"
  • Recorded: 2016 at West Valley Studios
  • Release date: March 31st, 2017 (5th studio album by Warbringer)
  • Record company: Napalm Records
  • Production: Mike Plotnikoff
  • Album cover art: Andreas Marschall
  • Personnel: Chase Becker (guitars), Adam Carroll (guitars), Carlos Cruz (drums), John Kevill (vocals), and Jessie Sanchez (bass)
  • Musical style: Thrash metal
  • Sound: John Kevill once described the first half of the album as "probably the most fast and brutal side A of any Warbringer record yet" and the second half as "more progressive/darkly melodic".  Ain't that the truth!  This album is a killer!  It nods to early '80s California and German thrash, yet is fresh, modern, and unique.
  • Major themes: Violence, war, death, revenge, police brutality, destruction, power, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Silhouettes"
  2. "Woe To The Vanquished"
  3. "Remain Violent"
  4. "Shellfire"
  5. "Descending Blade"
  6. "Spectral Asylum"
  7. "Divinity Of Flesh"
  8. "When The Guns Fell Silent"

  • Nose: The nose is dank, earthy, herbal, and fruity.  There are aromas of grapefruit rind, pineapple, light mango, light melon, pine resin, bitter herbs, and light malt.
  • Taste: The taste of the Revenge Double India Pale Ale is bitter, dank and earthy, herbal, and lightly fruity.  There are notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pine, black tea, minerals, bitter and fresh herbs, and very light caramel.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is crisp, dry, and very bitter with a dry, bitter finish.
Overall pairing: The bold, bitter, punchy hop blast of Proper's Revenge is perfect for the fast-paced sonic thrash metal attack of Warbringer!  After drinking a can or two of Revenge, the songs like "Woe To The Vanquished", "Remain Violent", and "Shellfire" will become your battle anthems!
