January 3rd, 2021 - Throw Back A Pint Of Kirta And Then Send Them All To Hell!

Guten tag!  The Meista here again with another killer brew and killer album pairing for ya my friends!  Today I'm rocking out to German thrash/power metal monsters, Pänzer (sometimes referred to as the German Panzer) and their debut "Send Them All To Hell" album along with a malty and sweet Kirta Dunkelweizen from Graminger Weissbräu!

Album Info:

  • Artist: Pänzer
  • Title: "Send Them All To Hell"
  • Recorded: Spring and summer of 2014 at Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden, Switzerland and Arena 21 Studios in Hannover, Germany
Release date: November 28th, 2014 (1st studio album by Panzer)
  • Record company: Nuclear Blast Records
  • Production: V.O. Pulver and Pänzer

  • Personnel: Herman Frank (guitars and backing vocals), Schmier (bass and lead vocals), and Stefan Schwarzmann (drums, percussion, and backing vocals)
  • Musical style: Thrash metal, power metal
  • Sound: Combining elements of Destruction and Accept, Pänzer's sound is fast, fiery, and aggressive!  Frank's guitar work soars as always, the rhythm section of Schmier and Schwarzmann is a thunderous blitzkrieg, and Schmier's vocals are as angry as ever!  This album is a blast of heavy metal fun!
  • Major themes: death, destruction, aggression, power, might, murder, war, violence, heavy metal, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Death Knell"
  2. "Hail And Kill"
  3. "Temple Of Doom"
  4. "Panzer"
  5. "Freakshow"
  6. "Mr. Nobrain"
  7. "Why?"
  8. "Virtual Collision"
  9. "Roll The Dice"
  10. "Bleed For Your Sins"

Brew Info:

  • Brewery: Graminger Weissbräu (Altötting, Germany)
  • Website: https://www.graminger-weissbraeu.de/
  • Brew: Kirta
  • Style: Dunkelweizen / Festbier
  • Serving: 16 ounce can
  • ABV: 5.4%
  • Pour: The Kirta pours a clear mahogany/deep copper hue with an eggshell white, frothy, 1+ finger head with good retention and lots of sticky, intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is bready, toasty, malty, fruity, and slightly spicy.  There are aromas of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, cola, dark fruits (prunes, raisins, and figs), apple, cloves, light pepper, soft banana, and sweet caramel/toffee.
  • Taste: Following the nose, the taste of the Kirta is fruity, malty, and sweet.  There are notes of toasted pumpernickel bread, banana bread, prune juice, cola, light apple, and sweet caramel and toffee.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium in body with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy with a rather clean, sweet finish.

Overall pairing: The crushably sweet flavors and aromas of the Kirta
is the perfect beer for an evening of heavy duty headbanging with Pänzer's killer "Send Them All To Hell"!  The  notes are great for the aggressive machine gun fire guitars and drums, while the sweeter fruit ester aromas and flavors are a great foil to Schmier's gravely and angry vocals!

Prost!!  Hails!!
