July 18th, 2022 - The Matador Confronting Blind Rage

Guten abend and hails!  The Meista here tonight rocking out to "Blind Rages," the killer l4th album from German metal monsters Accept and a tasty Matador Pale Ale from my friends at Fisher Brewing Company!!

Album Info:

  • Artist: Accept
  • Title: "Blind Rage"
  • Recorded: 2014
  • Release date: August 19th, 2014 (14th studio album by Accept)
  • Record company: Nuclear Blast
  • Production: Andy Sneap
  • Album cover art: Dan Goldsworthy
  • Personnel: Peter Baltes (bass guitar), Herman Frank (guitars), Wolf Hoffmann (guitars), Mark Tornillo (vocals), and Stefan Schwarzmann (drums)
  • Musical style: Heavy metal, hard rock
  • Sound: Sometimes referred to as "working man's metal", the sound of Accept's latest album is hard-hitting, aggressive, and catchy! As tight and heavy as ever, the boys in the band have nailed it once again with another metal juggernaut!  "Blind Rage" has that classic Accept sound, but is fresh, relevant, and most importantly, it rocks!  Mark Tornillo's raspy broken glass and gravel vocals are the perfect foil for the rich and soaring guitar work of Wolf Hoffmann and Herman Frank!  Meanwhile, Peter Baltes (bass) and Stefan Schwarzmann (drums) round out the sound with a thunderous and driving rhythmic onslaught!  This album (like everything Accept does) packs a heavy punch, but with a whole lotta soul and heart!
  • Major themes: Violence, war, chaos, destruction, mindlessness, finality, power, perseverance, death, etc.
  • Tracks:
  1. "Stampede"
  2. "Dying Breed"
  3. "Dark Side Of My Heart"
  4. "Fall Of The Empire"
  5. "Trail Of Tears"
  6. "Wanna Be Free"
  7. "200 Years"
  8. "Bloodbath Mastermind"
  9. "From Ashes We Rise"
  10. "The Curse"
  11. "Final Journey"

The Limited-Edition Digipak version includes a DVD of the band's April 12th, 2013 performance in Teatro Caupolicán, Santiago, Chile during the "Stalingrad" Tour!

Brew Info:

  • Brewery: Fisher Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: http://www.fisherbeer.com/
  • Brew: Matador Pale Ale
  • Style: American Pale Ale (APA)
  • Serving: 32 ounce crowler can
  • ABV: 5.0%
  • IBUs: 73
  • Ingredients: Rye with Chinook and Amarillo hops
  • Pour: The Matador Pale Ale pours a hazy, dark copper-amber hue with a frothy, off-white, 1+ finger head with great sustain and lots of sudsy, sticky, and layered lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is characterized by citrus, floral and herbal hops, peppery rye, and more subtle sweeter malts.  There are aromas of toasted rye bread, grapefruit rind, tangerine, pine resin, wildflowers, toasted barley, and sweet caramel.
  • Taste: The taste of the Matador Pale Ale follows the nose with lots of citrus, earthy, peppery, and herbal flavors along with more subtle sweet malts.  There are notes of grapefruit, tangerine, orange pith, peppery rye bread, black tea, pine, crackery biscuit, and soft caramel.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is crisp with a dry, slightly bitter and peppery finish.

Overall pairing: The crisp and punchy flavors of Fisher's Matador Pale Ale are perfect for the hard-hitting, straight-forward heavy metal prowess and goodness that is Accept's "Blind Rage"!  It's that hoppy and assertive flavor that works so well with "Blind Rage"!

Make sure you pick up a copy of "Blind Rage" from my buddy Kevin at the Heavy Metal Shop!!  (www.heavymetalshop.com)
