October 23rd, 2022 - A Little Kindling For De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas


God ettermiddag evildoers and craft beer lovers!  The Meista here tonight pairing getting evil with Mayhem's classic "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" and a Kindling Golden Ale from Odell Brewing Company!  Hell yeah!

  • Pour: The Kindling pours a fairly clear golden-yellow hue with a 1+ finger, fluffy and creamy white head with great retention and intricate lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is toasty, floral, and malty with light fruit esters.  There are aromas of soft caramel, June grass, wildflowers, light corn, and hints of peach, apricot, and apple.
  • Taste: The taste of the Kindling is and malty.  There are notes of toasted bread, cereal grains, light apple, light stone fruit, and caramel/toffee flavors. 
  • Mouthfeel: Light to medium-bodied with good carbonation, the mouthfeel of the Kindling is crisp and very smooth with a mellow, clean finish.
  • Notes: "Kindling is brewed to support nonprofits who ignite conversations, build communities, and amplify voices."

Overall pairing: The Odell Kindling is a bright, smooth, and very crisp brew, which makes it a great foil to the chaotic, infernal, blackened aggression of Mayhem's masterful "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas"!  'Nuff said!
