October 6th, 2022 - Oktober Rust Fest

 




Guten tag!  Well, I'm late, but better late than never, right?  The actual Oktoberfest in Munich ended a few days ago, but I wasn't able to get this pairing done until today.  So... your metal drinkin' buddy the Meista here today pairing a tasty and crushable Oktoberfest from Bohemian Brewing Company and Type O Negative's wonderful final album "October Rust"!  Oh yeah!

  • Pour: The Oktoberfest pours a clear, deep bronze with a frothy, off-white, 2-finger head with great sustain and lacing. 
  • Nose: The nose is toasty, malty, slightly fruity, and sweet.  There are aromas of caramel, herbs, a hint of spiced apple or pear, toasted bread, sweet toffee, and a very slight hint of grassy hops.
  • Taste: The taste is like the nose, bready, malty, and slightly sweet.  There are notes of sweet breads, toasted barley, sweet caramel/toffee, light grassy hops, and herbs.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is very smooth and refreshing with a clean, mellow finish.

Overall pairing: The Bohemian Oktoberfest is a crushable, yet very flavorful and complex brew... perfect for the metal depth, complexity, and honesty that is Type O Negative's amazing "October Rust"!  'Nuff said!
