Brew Info:

  • Brewery: Shades Brewing (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Website: https://www.shadesbrewing.beer/
  • Brew: Foggy Goggles Winter Lager
  • Style: Spiced German Lager / Märzen
  • Serving: 12 ounce can
  • ABV: 5.0%
  • Pour: The Foggy Goggles pours a hazy golden-orange color with a very thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly to a thin ring with no lacing.
  • Nose: The nose is spicy, grainy, and malty.  There are aromas of doughy bread, toasted malts, light grassy hops, light spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg), and a hint of honey.
  • Taste: The taste of the Foggy Goggles is spicy, toasty, grainy, and slightly fruity.  There are notes of toasted white bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, grassy hops, and light spiced apple.
  • Mouthfeel: Light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel is very crisp with a dry, and lightly spicy finish.

Overall pairing: The spicy, yet smooth drinkability of Shades' Foggy Goggles Winter Lager is great for the inviting and wondrous rock and roll musical journey that is the mighty Foghat!  That malty backbone is great for the warm melodies and heavy-duty rhythm section of Earl and Stevens, while the spices are great for the amazing guitar work of Price and Peverett!
