November 15th, 2014 - Let It Be Mogli!

Hello friends!  The Meista here tonight pairing "Let It Be" by the one and only Beatles and a Mogli Bourbon Oak-Aged Chocolate Imperial Porter from Caldera Brewing Company outta Oregon!   This one goes out to my brother-in-law, Paul who gave me this lovely brew!  Cheers my man!!

"Let It Be" is the 12th and final studio album and one of my favorites by the Beatles.  It was released on May 8th in 1970 through Apple Records (owned by the band) shortly after the group announced they were calling it quits.  Oddly enough, most of "Let It Be" was actually recorded in January of 1969, which is before they recorded and released the album "Abbey Road".  Anyway, I'm not going to go into a big description of the album... you probably read it all before.  Highlights on the album for me are "Two Of Us", "Dig A Pony", "Across The Universe", "I've Got A Feeling", "One After 909", "For You Blue", and "Get Back".  I think everyone should own this wonderful album.

The Mogli Bourbon Oak-Aged Chocolate Imperial Porter is a decadent treat! It is brewed with Premium Two Row, Crystal, Munich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate, Dark Belgian Candi Sugar, Natural Chocolate, and Bourbon-Soaked Oat Spirals along with  Galena and Willamette hops.  It comes in at 8.5% ABV and 55 IBUs.  Complex, rich, and very chocolaty, the Mogli is the perfect companion to the depth of "Let It Be".  It pours an ink black with a creamy mocha head that displays great retention and lacing.  The nose is a big blast of chocolate, toffee, and vanilla.  There are aromas of rich and creamy milk chocolate, whipped cream, vanilla cream, coconut, and bourbon.  Full-bodied with minimal carbonation, the mouthfeel is very thick and very velvety.  Like the nose, the flavor is a big, bold blast of chocolate, bourbon, and cream.  There are notes of cocoa, dark coffee, milk chocolate, malted milk balls, hazelnuts, smoky bourbon, and vanilla cream.  Mmmmm... this is damned good!!

 Cheers!!
