Good evening evil-doers! Since I have tomorrow off for Veterans Day, I thought I'd do a kick-ass pairing for ya! I'm pairing Exhumed's most recent studio album, the wonderful "To The Death" and a bright, fruity, unique, and tasty Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour from the fine folks at Drekker Brewing Company! Hell yeah!
Album Info:
- Artist: Exhumed
- Title: "To The Death"
- Recorded: April through June 2021 at Darker Corners Studio in San Luis Obispo, California
Release date: October 21st, 2022 (9th studio album by Exhumed) - Record company: Relapse Records
- Production: Alejandro Corredor
- Album cover art: Marc Schoenbach
- Personnel: Mike Hamilton (drums), Matt Harvey (guitars and vocals), Sebastian Phillips (guitars and vocals), and Ross Sewage (bass and vocals)
- Musical style: Death metal, gorecore, grindcore with elements of thrash metal
- Sound: "To The Death" is that brutal signature death metal/grind vibe Exhumed is known for, but it also blends a bit of fast-paced, guitar-driven, machine gun attack metal of the early thrash metal scene. The songs are fast and tight and a sheer joy to experience! Killer stuff!
- Major themes: With lyrics steeped in horror and gore, themes on the album include violence, death, the undead, insanity, blood, gore, filth, rot, evil, pathology, etc.
- Tracks:
- "Putrescine And Cadaverine"
- "Drained Of Color"
- "Carbonized"
- "Rank And Defiled"
- "Lurid, Shocking, And Vile"
- "Undertaking The Overkilled"
- "Nectrotica"
- "No Headstone Unturned"
- "Defecated"
- "Disgusted"
Brew Info:
- Brewery: Drekker Brewing Company (Fargo, North Dakota)
- Website: https://drekkerbrewing.com/
- Brew: Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour
- Style: Sour Beer / Fruited Beer / Smoothie / Pastry Beer
- Serving: 16 ounce can
- ABV: 6.4%
- Ingredients: Smoothie style sour brewed with pineapple, mango, lime, sea salt, lactose, and vanilla
- Pour: The Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour pours a very bright and opaque yellow-orange color with a very, very thin, bright white head that dissipates quite quickly, leaving virtually no lacing.
- Nose: The nose is characterized by big fruity and sweet notes. There are aromas of freshly sliced pineapple, fresh mango, zesty lime, vanilla beans, cream, and a splash of honey.
- Taste: The taste of the Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour follows the nose with very fruity flavors. There are bold yet refreshing notes of pineapple juice, fresh mango, orange juice, lime juice and zest, fresh cream, cream soda, melted vanilla ice cream, melted sherbet, and a splash of honey.
- Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied and well-carbonated, the mouthfeel of the Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour is very thick and smooth with sweet, slightly boozy finish.
Overall pairing: The Drekker Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour is... great for the aggressive death metal attack and horror imagery of Exhumed's latest! I also love the imagery of the wonderfully freaky "To The Death" album cover juxtaposed against the very cool Braaaaaaaains - Pineapple Mango Lime Double Fruit Smoothie Sour can label!
